Meet Sendhil

From the classroom to the Board of Education, he’s spent his career fighting to give every student a high-quality education and make schools work for every family.
Sendhil started teaching in the South Bronx, where he co-founded a new public high school and led its math department to a 96% pass rate. The school ranked 7th out of over 400 New York high schools, proving that with the right support, every child can succeed.

As Vice President of the Chicago Board of Education, he led the Finance & Audit Committee to monitor risk and ensure efficient, sustainable budgeting, championed budget town halls, and pushed the district to publicly report its fiscal outlook for the first time.
Sendhil holds an Illinois Professional Educator License. He has served on a Local School Council and on the boards of the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Bright Promises Foundation.

As Managing Director of Strategic Development at PEAK6 Capital Management, an entrepreneurial investment firm, he led key innovation projects and supported the development of business strategy.
Born in Chicago, Sendhil attended public schools, including the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, before graduating from the University of Chicago at the age of 18. He volunteers as a Sunday school teacher, appeared and won on Jeopardy!, and lives in West Town with his wife and their two children.
