Sendhil Revuluri Statement on Resolution of Petition Objections

Decision Will Clear the Way to Refocus the Race on Students

CHICAGO, June 30, 2026Following this morning’s Electoral Board direction on objections to candidate petitions for the Chicago Board of Education, Sendhil Revuluri issued the following statement:

“This is a good day for democracy. The Electoral Board’s hearing officers have been pointed in the right direction, and we appreciate the affirmation of what we believed all along: our petitions were valid, our campaign played by the rules, and Chicago voters deserve a real choice in this race.

Frankly, these objections were never about the law. They were about keeping a candidate off the ballot instead of letting voters decide. We're glad we’re moving past that.

Now let's get back to what actually matters. Chicago's families don't want to talk about technicalities. They want to talk about setting up our kids for success, ensuring a $10 billion budget serves students first, and having a board that answers to the people instead of to interest groups.

That's the conversation Chicagoans want to have, and it's the one I'm ready to have every day — from today to Election Day and beyond.”
